End of Summer is a 1999 Canadian - American feature film directed by Helen Shaver . This drama tells the story of two brothers and an African-American doctor.

After their father dies, 12-year-old Jamie and older brother take a summer vacation in a remote Georgia town. Jamie befriends a neighbor there, the Afro-American doctor William Blakely. Their friendship is put to the test by the racist hostility of the other residents.
