The Owl House (original title: The Hollow ) is a long episode from the ninth season of the British television series Agatha Christie's Poirot from 2004 by Simon Langton . It is the film adaptation of the 1946 novel by Agatha Christie .
action
Hercule Poirot spends his weekend in the country. A famous film actress named Veronica Cray has rented a room in the immediate vicinity. Nearby is the Angkatell estate, which at this time also accommodates a few weekend guests. Lady Angkatell invites Poirot to dinner because she fears that there could be unpleasant scenes between the guests and expects the presence of a famous private detective to lead to more civilized behavior. So the dinner takes place and shortly after Poirot says goodbye, Veronica Cray shows up to ask for matches. In truth, she wants the doctor John Christow back, who broke off his engagement to her twelve years ago and is also a guest. However, he is now married. His wife Gerda and his lover Henrietta Savernake are present. Nevertheless, John gets involved with Veronica and spends half the night with her. The next day he was shot by the pool . Poirot joins them just at the moment when the murdered man's wife is stunned with a revolver in hand with the dead man. Henrietta and the host Lady Angkatell are also in the immediate vicinity. The picture seems strange to Poirot. To him, the crime seems too simple or, on the other hand, extremely complicated. While everyone present is behaving more and more puzzling and thus making them suspicious, John's wife Gerda is exonerated from the murder charge, because the revolver in her hand is not the weapon of the murder . A little game of confusion unfolds that Poirot can only unravel with the use of all his detective instinct. Ultimately, it turns out that the obvious solution is the right one.
