action

Adrian Mole grew up in a simple family, especially in an area where the unwritten laws of the street apply. He doesn't want to have anything to do with the vigorous, rough boys in the neighborhood. For them, and especially for the thug Berry Kent, Mole is a victim who needs to be terrorized.

Adrian tries to differentiate himself and wants to be recognized as an intellectual. He wrote poems, discussed the world situation with his friend Nigel and was interested in politics. He describes himself as an existentialist and represents politically left-wing views. Adrian values well-groomed clothing, reasonably good manners and practices selected expression. He meticulously observed the course of his own puberty and meticulously kept a record of it. In these troubled times, his diary becomes his best friend, whom he can always confide in.

Adrian is also socially committed. So he befriends Bert Baxter, a not always very simple person, who sometimes disgusts Adrian. Nevertheless, both are getting along better and better. Because the problems for Adrian are increasing: his parents get into an argument, which leads to his mother moving out temporarily. The father becomes unemployed, money becomes scarcer and finally the electricity is even turned off. Puberty is also a problem for Adrian: is breast swelling normal in a thirteen-year-old? Is his beard growing fast enough and isn't his penis too small? To top it all off, Berry Kent blackmailed him. There is also the girl Pandora, whom he has to confess his love to at some point and who eventually becomes his first girlfriend.
