The Secret Room is a German feature film from 2010 based on an original script by René Sydow and Daniel Hedfeld , who also directed. The film was produced by Christian Müller-Espey and the Kulturzentrum Lichtburg e. V. The three adult leading roles were cast with Joachim Kappl, Heinz W. Krückeberg and Kathrin Hildebrand.

On the occasion of her grandmother's funeral, 14-year-old Anna-Lena travels with her father Friedrich from Berlin to Wetter (Ruhr) . Upon arrival, she meets Julian and Lutz, who are the same age and who are the son of her father's childhood friend, Ulrike, with whom they spend the night. When the children discover a secret room in the abandoned house of their deceased grandmother, they go on a search for clues to the time of the Second World War . They suspect that the grandmother kept someone there. As the film progresses, they realize that Anna-Lena's and Lutz's family history is closely interwoven and that Lutz's grandfather Rudolf is also involved in it.
