content

After the Indian cancer researcher Shri Bahanba and the scientists Hamblain and Roland Fournier disappeared without a trace, the French woman Jeanne Corbet, who is married to a professor, goes in search of her lover Roland Fournier.

A witness to the laboratory fire in which Roland is said to have died is the US diplomat Samuel Frend. She finds him with his wife Suzan and son Tommy in Caracas . But when she wants to visit them again the next day, they have disappeared. Jeanne travels the world for fourteen years. She speaks to Indira Gandhi, Queen of England and President Ronald Reagan. In India she meets Roland's daughter Annie, but she too suddenly disappears without a trace. Only a phone call from the girl and the call “He's alive!” Give Jeanne motivation again to look further.

In Bennington (Vermont) she finally finds Suzan Frend again. But she only confirms that Samuel was also dead, killed in a car accident. Jeanne has no idea that Suzan is lying to her. Because immediately Suzan calls the supposedly dead man. As "Colonel Bass", Samuel Frend heads a project at Base 307. There, Jeanne meets Roland again, who, strangely enough, has not aged a day since he disappeared. An immortality serum is the "big secret". But it does not protect against violent death. When some youngsters decide to leave the island, the world's governments make a deadly decision and Colonel Bass is their enforcer. After he has shot Jeanne and Roland, the island "Base 307" is blown up along with its residents. At the end you see the empty rubber dinghy that Annie and her friend Han used to escape and a Chinese ship driving away.
