Dasha Dauenhauer

Dascha Dauenhauer (born April 10, 1989 in Moscow ) is a German film composer.

Life

Dascha Dauenhauer started playing the piano at the age of five. A little later she received piano and composition lessons at the Moscow Conservatory of Music from Schatkowski. When she was seven, she moved to Berlin with her family and deepened her education. At the age of 11 she was accepted at the “Academy for Gifted Children and Young People” in Berlin and received composition lessons from Thomas Herrmann. At the age of 12 she became a young student at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin and studied piano with Birgitta Wollenweber . At the same time she received composition lessons at the Julius Stern Institute with Jolyon Brettingham Smith .

His own works were created, including chamber music and solo ensembles. This was followed by concert appearances with their own pieces. Her orchestral piece “Sinfonietta” was premiered in 2004 in the Berlin Philharmonic .

At the age of 17 Dauenhauer began studying music theory at the Berlin University of the Arts with Hartmut Fladt . After completing her diploma, in 2015 she began the advanced master's degree in “Film Music” at the Babelsberg Film University with Ulrich Reuter .

Dauenhauer has been working as a film composer ever since. In 2020 she was awarded the German Film Prize for her work on Burhan Qurbani's feature film Berlin Alexanderplatz .

Dascha Dauenhauer lives in Berlin.
