The BOhisto project , in full BOhisto: Bozen-Bolzano's History Online , offers the late medieval and early modern council minutes of the city of Bozen in digitized form for free viewing and further scientific use on its website .

It comprises the integral digital reproductions of over 200 manuscripts in the Bolzano City Archives from the years 1470 to 1805 (signature groups Hss. 1–130 and 138–140) with around 78,000 digital copies. The historical basic research project was launched in 2013 by the historian Hannes Obermair and is technically based on the document management system of the Bolzano company Alpin. BOhisto is explicitly committed to barrier-free access to South Tyrolean cultural assets as part of European historical culture in the sense of an Open Data Policy and in accordance with the recommendations of the Berlin Declaration .

The BOhisto online offer has been recognized by the University of Pisa as a “ good practice example in the archive sector”. Thanks to its open data approach, BOhisto has been included in the European research program Transkribus since 2015 , within which several European universities are developing automated text recognition for handwriting.
