The data thrower. The scientific journal for data travelers is the irregular magazine of the Chaos Computer Club (CCC). It has been published since 1984 and can also be subscribed to regardless of membership in the CCC and has been read on the Internet since 2002 .
The main topics are the political and technical aspects of the digital world ( freedom of information , data protection , video surveillance and privacy , cryptography, etc.). It is currently being published in DIN A5 format . The editorial office is operated virtually over the Internet , but the data sling is printed in Berlin and distributed from there.
As a gimmick , issue # 92 from March 2008 included a slide with the fingerprint of the then Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble .
The US magazine TAP - The Youth International Party Line (YIPL) , which was founded in 1971 and distributed tips on free telephone calls as a protest against the Vietnam War, is cited as the model for the data thrower .
The last current issue, No. 100, appeared in June 2019 (as of November 19, 2019).
