Daunus (son of Pilumnus)
Daunus is in Roman mythology, a ruler in Latium based Rutulians .
In Virgil's Aeneid , the only source of Daunus, he is the son of the god Pilumnus . He himself is the consort of the goddess Venilia and father of the Rutulian hero Turnus and the fountain nymph Iuturna . From Vulcanus he received a sword hardened in the water of the Styx , which his son wielded in the fight against Aeneas and was defeated.
