David George "Dave" Dunn (born August 19, 1948 in Moosomin , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and coach who worked for the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League from 1966 to 1978 and the Winnipeg Jets has played in the World Hockey Association .
Career
Dave Dunn began his career as a hockey player on the University of Saskatchewan team , where he was active from 1966 to 1970. He then received a contract with the Vancouver Canucks , which were newly included in the National Hockey League . First, however, he played in the following three years for their farm teams , the Rochester Americans from the American Hockey League and the Seattle Totems from the Western Hockey League , before the defender made his NHL debut for Vancouver in the 1973/74 season. In his rookie year , the Canadian scored a total of 33 scorer points in 68 games, including eleven goals, for the Canucks. In the following season Dunn completed only one game for Vancouver before he was given to the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 16, 1974 in exchange for Garry Monahan and John Grisdale .
With the team from Ontario Dunn reached the NHL playoffs in the following two seasons, in which he scored a goal in 10 games and gave a template. In addition, the Canadian was in the 1975/76 season in nine games for the Oklahoma City Blazers from the Central Hockey League on the ice. In the summer of 1976 Dunn moved to the World Hockey Association , which competed with the NHL , where he was active for two years for the Winnipeg Jets , with whom he won the Avco World Trophy in the 1977/78 season at the end of his active career .
Subsequently, Dunn returned to his ex-club Vancouver Canucks, for which he worked as an assistant coach from 1978 to 1981 before retiring from ice hockey.
