Dave MacQueen (born February 8, 1959 in Woodstock , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey coach . From 2012 to 2019 he was the head coach of the Austrian first division club Dornbirner EC .

Career

MacQueen played in the junior division for the Ottawa 67's in the OMJHL and then spent his professional career in lower-class leagues in North America.

Between 1993 and 1996 he worked as the head coach of the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League and led the team to the OHL championship title in its final season before he was hired by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the National Hockey League (NHL) as an assistant coach. In 1999 MacQueen returned to the OHL and took over the Erie Otters as head coach. In 2002 he won the championship with the Otters - MacQueen's second in the OHL. A year earlier he had been named OHL Coach of the Year.

After a seven-year tenure with the Otters, he moved to another OHL team, Sarnia Sting , in 2006 and worked there as head coach and temporarily as a manager until February 2011.

For the 2012/13 season he took up his first head coach position in Europe and was signed by Dornbirner EC from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League in Austria. In the 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons he led the DEC to participate in the playoffs.
