David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon (born November 3, 1961 in London ), known professionally as David Linley , is a British peer , furniture designer and entrepreneur. He held the courtesy title of Viscount Linley until he inherited the title of Earl of Snowdon on the death of his father in 2017 .

He is the son of Princess Margaret , the younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II , and Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon . As the nephew of the monarch, he ranks 21st in the line of succession in the United Kingdom .

Linley was born in Clarence House and attended Bedales School in East Hampshire . After learning the carpentry trade at Parnham House School , he founded David Linley Furniture Ltd. in 1985 . and began with the one-off production of the most exclusive wooden and upholstered furniture. Today the company sells its products under the brand name LINLEY and also includes home accessories in its range. Since December 1, 2006 he is Chairman ( Chairman ) of the auction house Christie's in London.

Marriage and offspring

On October 8, 1993, he married Serena Alleyne Stanhope, daughter of Charles Stanhope, Viscount Petersham (12th Earl of Harrington since 2009 ). He has two children with her:

  • Charles Patrick Inigo Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley (born July 1, 1999)
  • Lady Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones (born May 14, 2002)

On February 17, 2020, it was reported in the British press that David and Serena Armstrong-Jones have decided to separate amicably after 26 years of marriage and are going to get a divorce.
