David Dror Ben-Zvi (born June 19, 1974 ) is an American mathematician.

Ben-Zvi studied at Princeton University with a bachelor's degree summa cum laude in 1994 and received his doctorate from Edward Frenkel at Harvard University in 1999 ( Spectral curves, opers and integrable systems ). From 1999 to 2003 he was a Dickson Instructor at the University of Chicago . He has been Assistant Professor since 2003, Associate Professor since 2008 and Professor at the University of Texas at Austin since 2013 ( Joel B. and Louise Cook Professor ).

Like Frenkel, he deals with the geometric Langland program at the intersection of representation theory (of Lie groups and algebras ), algebraic geometry and mathematical physics (e.g. topological quantum field theories and their connection with the geometric Langland program), applications of non-commutative geometry to integrable Systems of mathematical physics and vice versa Applications of geometric structures of mathematical physics (such as vertex algebras and conformal field theories ) in the geometry of the module spaces of algebraic geometry.

In 2008 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study , in 2014 research professor at MSRI , in 2004 visiting professor at Northwestern University and in 2014 at Berkeley.

In 2012 he became a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society . In 2017 he was Simons Fellow.
