David "Dai" Bradley (born September 27, 1953 in Barnsley , England ) is a British actor.

Life

David Bradley was born in northern England to a miner and seamstress . As a 14-year-old, he was selected from hundreds of high school students in his region to play the role of worker boy Billy Casper in Ken Loach's feature film Kes . Although he played the main role, he was still assistant to the cameraman and carried his equipment, also because the film had a rather low budget. The surprise success of Kes also changed the life of David Bradley, who came from a small family and had hardly left his hometown before and now suddenly gained notoriety and was even awarded a BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer . After dropping out of school at the age of 17 without a degree, David Bradley was accepted into the Royal National Theater .

Since there was a British actor of the same name before him , David Bradley can often be referred to as "Dai Bradley".

In the 1970s, Bradley was with success: He starred in the television series The Flaxton Boys and The Jensen Code embodied a greater role alongside Richard Burton in the thriller Absolution (1978) and was a soldier Albert Kropp in Remarque -Neuverfilmung the west nothing new to see (1979). At the theater he gained recognition with his leading role in the play Equus by Peter Shaffer . With the beginning of the 1980s, however, the role offers for Bradley decreased significantly. Since then he has only been present in film and television very sporadically, instead he mostly worked at the theater or invested in some film and television projects, all of which failed. More recently, he took on a supporting role in the action film Redemption in 2013 and a guest appearance on the British television series Holby City in 2015 .

Even today, viewers mostly identify him with the role in Kes , which, according to his own statements, does not bother him, as this film has given him an exciting life and he associates it with positive memories.
