David Gerald Brooks, 5th Baron Crawshaw (born September 14, 1934 ) is a British peer and politician ( Conservative Party ).

life and career

Brooks was born to Gerald Brooks, 3rd Baron Crawshaw and his wife Marjory Sheila Clifton. He attended Eton College and the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester , Gloucestershire .

From 1985 to 1986 he was High Sheriff of Leicester . Since 2001 he has been President of the Leicester Conservative Association . He has been President of the Leicestershire Agricultural Society since 2009 .

He mentions racing and sport shooting as hobbies . He lives on Little Riste Farm in Long Whatton , Loughborough (as of 2003). Crawshaw and his wife run the Whatton House .

Membership in the House of Lords

When his brother William Brooks, 4th Baron Crawshaw died in 1997, Brooks inherited his title of nobility and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He took his seat for the first time on December 8, 1998. He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for election for one of the remaining seats. He is a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association . He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

Brooks married Belinda Mary Burgess, daughter of George Burgess, on October 27, 1970. The marriage resulted in four daughters.
