David Di Michele (born January 6, 1976 in Guidonia Montecelio ) is a former Italian football player . He usually played in the center forward position .
Career
society
Di Michele began his professional career in 1993 at AS Lodigiani , now Cisco Roma, in the Italian C1 series . In 1996 he moved to Serie B for Foggia Calcio . After only two years he moved to Salernitana Calcio , where he made his Serie A debut, but was relegated to Serie B with Salernitana in the second year. For the 2001/02 season Di Michele moved to Udinese Calcio . He played there for a year before being loaned to Reggina Calcio for two years . After he became a regular player there, Di Michele returned to Udinese. In the 2004/05 season he scored 15 goals for his club and was thus the top scorer of his club and was thus jointly responsible for the excellent fourth place in the table, which they occupied at the end of the season. Also worth mentioning is his appearance in the Italian Cup against US Lecce when he scored two goals. At the end of the game he had to score because Udineses goalkeeper Samir Handanovič had to leave the field with red. He saved a penalty in the last minutes and was able to secure a 5-4 victory for his team.
After taking part in the Champions League with Udinese in the first half of the 2005/06 season , he moved to the second half of the season for US Palermo , where he scored two goals in his first game. In total, he came to seven goals in 19 games for Palermo this season. In the 2006/07 season he was again a regular in Palermo and was able to score nine goals in 29 games.
After that season, Di Michele moved to Turin FC and was suspended for three months for illegal betting and was fined € 20,000. He is said to have bet "directly or via third parties on the results of official games" of the Italian association FIGC. Since the corruption scandal in 2005/06, betting has been banned for players in Italy. As a result, he played his first game for Turin in November against AC Milan , and overall he played a mixed season for Turin with six goals in 25 games. In the summer of 2008 it was rumored that Di Michele was moving to Middlesbrough FC or AS Roma . But neither came about and so Di Michele was a little surprisingly loaned to West Ham United on the very last day of the transfer window for the 2008/09 season. The first half of the 2009/10 season he played again for Turin, in the second half he was loaned to US Lecce . For the 2012/13 season, Di Michele moved to Chievo Verona .
National team
Di Michele made his national team debut on March 30, 2005 in a 0-0 draw against Iceland . Since then he has played five more games, mostly as a substitute.
