David Dockendorf

David E. "Dave" Dockendorf (born November 2, 1923 in Wisconsin , † April 15, 1997 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American sound engineer .

Life

Dockendorf began his career in the late 1950s and made his feature film debut at the Western Showdown at Boot Hill with Charles Bronson in the lead role. While his main focus was on film, he also worked occasionally for television. For his work in television productions he was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy between 1980 and 1988 and was able to win the award in 1981 for a National Geographics Special .

In 1970 he was nominated for Two Bandits together with Bill Edmondson for an Oscar in the category Best Sound , but the award this year went to Gene Kelly's musical Hello, Dolly! In the following year Dockendorf was nominated twice for the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category and won the award for Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid .

Dockendorf withdrew from the film business in 1990. He died in Los Angeles in 1997 at the age of 73.
