David Emanuel (Designer)

David Emanuel (* 17th November 1952 in Bridgend ) is from Wales derived fashion designer . He had his breakthrough in 1981 as the designer of Lady Di's wedding dress .

Career

Emanuel studied from 1972 to 1975 at the Cardiff School of Art and Design and from 1976 to 1977 together with his future wife Elizabeth Emanuel (née Weiner, also a designer, e.g. for Prince Charles ) at the Royal College of Art in London. He then worked for the court designer of Elizabeth II , Hardy Amies, among others . In 1977, at the age of 25, he opened his own fashion boutique in London, which specialized in custom-made items for film stars (including Elizabeth Taylor and Madonna ) and the royals. Since his divorce in 1990 he has been selling his own fashion collection under the name David Emanuel Couture . David Emanuel is also commissioned as the fashion designer for the costumes of several film and theater productions (e.g. for performances of the Webber musical Sunset Boulevard or for Jane Seymour in War and Remembrance ) and designed the uniforms of the stewardesses of both Virgin Atlantic Airways (1991) and Britannia Airways (1999). He works for various television stations, for example for the BBC show Celebrity Cash in the Attic , or as the presenter of the program "Shop The World" on Fashion TV , writes fashion columns in several newspapers such as Western Mail and has published two fashion books with his wife.

In 2013, he participated in the 13th season of the British television show I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! part and reached second place.
