David G. Robinson
David Gordon Robinson (born May 15, 1947 in North Shields , England) is a British cell biologist .

After studying and doing his doctorate at the University of Leeds , David G. Robinson worked as a postdoc and lecturer at Stanford University from 1972 to 1974 . He then switched to the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen as a group leader , where he completed his habilitation in 1976 and worked as an associate professor from 1977. Since 2000 he has been a full professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he was the founding director of the Heidelberg Institute for Plant Sciences from 2001 to 2003, which has since merged into the Center for Organizmal Studies Heidelberg . Since 2005 he has been an adjunct professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong .
Research work
David G. Robinson's research area is plant cell biology with a focus on vesicle transport , the relationship between the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus , pre-vacuolar compartments, the formation of vacuoles , the cellular sorting of storage proteins and endocytosis .
