David Jones (athlete)
David Jones ( David Henry Jones ; born March 11, 1940 in Brookmans Park , Hertfordshire ) is a former British sprinter .
At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, he reached the semi-finals over 100 meters and the quarter-finals over 200 meters . In the 4 x 100 meter relay , he won the bronze medal with the British team in the cast Peter Radford , Jones, David Segal and Nick Whitehead .
In 1962 he was fifth at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade over 200 meters and won bronze with the British quartet in the 4 x 100 meter relay. At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth in the same year, silver followed over 220 yards and gold with the English team in the 4-by-110-yard relay.
From 1959 to 1961 he was English champion over 220 yards three times in a row and in 1962 English indoor champion over 60 yards.
