David Hofer (born June 21, 1983 in Bozen ) is an Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Until 2008, Hofer mainly took part in the races of the Continental Cup and the Alpine Cup. His first World Cup race ran in October 2005 in Düsseldorf , which he finished with 51st place in the sprint. He won his first World Cup points in December 2008 in Davos with 23rd place in the sprint. He finished the Tour de Ski 2008/09 in 24th place. In January 2009 in Vancouver she achieved fourth place for the first time in a top ten result in the cross-country skiing world cup . His best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 was 36th place over 50 km freestyle. He finished the 2008/09 season in 29th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

In the following season Hofer mainly achieved placements in the midfield, a tenth place in the 30 km mass start race was his best individual result. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he reached 39th place in the sprint. His best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo was 18th place in the sprint. His best World Cup results were in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons, each with a third place in the team sprint. He finished the 2011/12 Tour de Ski in 34th place. In 2012 he became the Italian sprint champion. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he finished fourth in the relay and fifth in the team sprint. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , 15th place in the sprint and fifth place with the relay were his best results. In the 2014/15 season he achieved 74th place at the Nordic Opening in Lillehammer and 41st place at the Tour de Ski 2015 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 2015 , he came in 43rd place over 15 km freestyle and 32nd place in the skiathlon.
