David Kahn (sports official)

David Kahn (* 1961 ) is a former general manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the National Basketball Association and a former sports journalist.

Career

Kahn is from Portland and attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA for short). From 1983 to 1989 he worked as a journalist for The Oregonian , where he did a lot of local and national sports.

In the NBA , he worked for the Indiana Pacers from 1995 to 2004 , before succeeding Kevin McHale as General Manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009 . In the 2009 NBA draft , he chose three point guards in the first round and traded the third, Ty Lawson , to Denver . In May 2013, he was fired from his position as general manager by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
