David Lalrinmuana (born November 9, 1992 ) is an Indian soccer player who is mainly used as a midfielder . He is currently under contract with Club Aizawl FC from the state of Mizoram .
Career
David Lalrinmuana joined the football academy of Mohun Bagan AC , a West Bengal club from Calcutta , in 2006 , after he had already played for Mizorams regional team in the so-called "Subroto Cup". When the U-15 team of the Mohun Bagan AC also called "Mariners" competed in the intercontinental youth competition "Nike Manchester United Premier Cup" (MUPC) against the academy selection of Manchester United , he scored the first goal in the game in which finally the English prevailed 4-1.
In 2007 he moved to Madras Sporting Union, a club from Chennai . There he played for one season in the senior squad for the first team in the Chennai Super League. He then returned home and played from 2008 to 2012 with the Faria Strikers in Goa as well as in the U-16 and U-19 teams of Mizoram's regional selection at the “Santosh Trophy” tournaments and in the U-21 selection at the 18th "Datta Ray Trophy". During this time he was mainly used as a striker. With the U-19 selection, he won the “Santosh Trophy” in 2013.
In 2012 he moved to Aizawl FC for the first time , from there to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Football Club (ONGC FC) from Mumbai for the 2012/2013 season . There he was named "Best Player" because of his performance. He then returned to Aizawl FC, with whom he rose two years later from the I-League 2nd Division as a champion in the I-League , India's top division alongside the Indian Super League . In the 2016 season, Lalrinmuana was named "Hero of the Game" four times.
He then moved to Mumbai City FC for one season in the Indian Super League, from there to move on to Kingfisher East Bengal for one season and thus return to the I-League. From there it went back to Aizawl FC in 2017.
Trivia
Jahar Das, Lalrinmuana's coach at Aizawl FC, was already the coach at the Mohun Bagan academy. Sanjoy Sen, another coach at this academy, also coached Lalrinmuana in a different context - on the Mizorams U-16 team.
