David Lambie

David Lambie (* 13. July 1925 , † 15. December 2019 ) was a Scottish politician of the Labor Party .

Political career

Lambie first stood in the 1955 general election for the Labor Party. He ran in the constituency of Bute and Northern Ayrshire , but could not prevail against the unionist Charles MacAndrew . It was the same in the subsequent elections in 1959 , 1964 and 1966 against the unionist and later Conservative Fitzroy Maclean . In the 1970 general election , Lambie ran in the Central Ayrshire constituency, inheriting his outgoing party colleague Archibald Manuel . He was able to unite the majority of votes and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time . In the general election in February and October 1974 and 1979 he was able to defend his mandate.

At the end of the electoral term, the Central Ayrshire constituency was dissolved and Lambie ran in the 1983 general election in the newly created Cunninghame South constituency , one of the two successor constituencies. He won the mandate by a clear margin over the conservative Phil Gallie and defended it in the 1987 elections . At the end of the electoral term, Lambie did not apply for any further term and left the House of Commons. His party colleague Brian Donohoe inherited him and kept the constituency for the Labor Party.
