The 1970 British general election took place on June 18, 1970. When choosing the deputies were for the lower house (House of Commons) redefined.
Electoral system
The simple majority voting system was used for voting . There was no threshold clause .
Election result
The Conservative Party won the election with 46.4 percent of the vote. It achieved an absolute majority with 330 out of 630 seats. The loser in the election, however, was the previously ruling Labor Party . It had to accept the greatest loss of votes in the election and thereby lost its previous absolute majority.
