David Petrasek (born February 1, 1976 in Jönköping ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who was last under contract with HV71 in the Elitserien until June 2015 .

Career

David Petrasek began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HV71 , for whose professional team he was active in the Elitserien from 1994 to 2000 . During this period he was selected in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in the eighth round as a total of 226th player by the Detroit Red Wings , for which he never played. Previously, the defender was already in the 1994/95 season, in his rookie year , Swedish Champion made with Jonkoping. For the 2000/01 season he moved to his league rivals Malmö Redhawks , for whom he was on the ice for the following five years, until it was relegated to the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . Then the former junior international returned to the HV71, with whom he was able to win the Swedish championship again in 2008 and 2010. In between, he was runner-up with his team in the 2008/09 season .

From 2006 to 2010 Petrasek was assistant captain at HV71. He himself was one of the best defenders in the entire Elitserien during this time and in 2009 he scored the most points of all players in the playoffs. In the 2009/10 season he was both the most successful goalscorer among defenders and top scorer. With 53 scorer points, he also set a new historical record among defenders in the league. He was also the defender with the best points in the playoffs and the best power play goalscorer in the Elitserien in the main round with twelve goals. With his good performances, the Swede was able to recommend himself for a contract with the Belarusian club HK Dinamo Minsk from the Continental Hockey League for the 2010/11 season .

After a year and 60 KHL games for Dinamo Minsk, Petrasek moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk in May 2011 within the KHL . In November 2011 he was transferred again within the KHL, this time to Atlant Mytishchi . There, too, his contract was prematurely terminated at the end of December 2011 after only one submission in twelve games. In January 2012 he returned to his home club HV71 and acted there as team captain in the 2013/14 season . Following the 2014/15 season , Petrasek did not receive a new contract with HV71 and officially ended his active career in March 2016.

International

For Sweden , Petrasek took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior Championship in 1994 and the 1996 World Junior Championship . He became Junior European Champion and Vice World Champion. In the senior sector, he was a participant in the 2011 World Cup , where Petrasek won the silver medal with the Swedish selection and the defender was elected to the All-Star Team.
