David Price (politician, 1945)

David Price (born June 2, 1945 in Sherbrooke , Québec ) is a Canadian politician who ran for the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and the Liberal Party of Canada and was represented in the Canadian House of Commons .

Life

After his school days, Price first went to the military and served from 1959 to 1965 first in the Air Cadets, then in the Sherbrooke Regiment or as a reservist in the Sherbrooke Hussars Army Reserve Unit. At the same time, he trained as an electrician and founded his company Price Electrique Inc. in 1964, and has served as its president ever since.

His political career began as a councilor in Lennoxville from 1989 to 1993. From 1993 to 1997 he was mayor of the then still independent city of Lennoxville. In 1997 he was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as a candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party in the Compton-Stanstead constituency. He joined the Liberals in September 2000 and remained in the House of Commons for another term before he was no longer elected in 2004.

From 2003 to 2004 he was Parliamentary Secretary for the Defense Minister. After losing elections in 2004 and 2006, he returned to local politics and was elected President of Lennoxville City Council in 2009.

Price is married and lives in Lennoxville. The couple has a son.
