David T. Wong
David Taiwai Wong (born November 6, 1935 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese - American chemist.
Life
He was the son of a machinist. After studying chemistry at Taiwan National University , he immigrated to the United States in 1957 and studied at Seattle Pacific University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1960 and at the University of Oregon with a master's degree in biochemistry in 1964 and a doctorate in 1966 From 1968 onwards worked for the US pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Company . Together with Klaus Schmiegel , Ray W. Fuller and Bryan B. Molloy, Wong developed the active ingredient fluoxetine , which was approved as Prozac . He was also a professor for the School of Medicine at Indiana University .
