Klaus Schmiegel

Klaus Schmiegel (born June 28, 1939 in Chemnitz ) is a German - American inventor and chemist .

Life

Schmiegel studied chemistry at the University of Michigan , Dartmouth College, and Stanford University . After completing his studies, he worked for the US company Eli Lilly and Company from 1968 to 1993 , where he worked with Bryan B. Molloy , among others . Together with Molloy, David T. Wong and Ray W. Fuller, Schmiegel developed the drug fluoxetine , which is sold under the trade name Prozac . Schmiegel lives in Indianapolis , Indiana .
