David Trullo
David Trullo (* 1969 in Madrid ) is a Spanish visual artist and photographer , he was Artist in Residence at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (2002) and was selected in the Backlight International Triennial for Photography in Tampere , Finland (2005).
The recurring themes of his photo and video works are gender identity and the examination of the use of iconography . Often he also deals with the interpretation of traditional themes from art history. He has participated in art fairs and festivals such as ARCO (Feria Internacional de ARte COntemporáneo) , Estampa and PHotoEspaña in Spain and Art Miami and the Armory Show in the United States. In 2006, the Museo Lázaro Galdiano , Madrid, presented Trullos Coined , a photo series consisting of a hundred portraits of friends and acquaintances of the artist, all of which are depicted in profile, in the manner of Roman emperors, in the style of commemorative medals and coins. The 96 portraits correspond in number to the list of emperors from Augustus to Romulus Augustulus .
In 2016, together with Pablo Peinado, he published the book Una historia verdadera , a collection of photographs about women and men who have decided to portray themselves together at some point in their lives.
