David Zürn III.

David Zürn III. (* 1. September 1665 in Olomouc ; † after 1724) was a sculptor of the Baroque , in Moravia worked. He belonged to the Zürn family of sculptors .

Life

The Zürn family originally came from Upper Swabia . David Zürn was the son of the sculptor Franz Zürn the Elder , his brothers Franz Zürn the Younger , Anton Zürn and Udalrich Zürn were also active as sculptors.

He began to study in his father's workshop, was released from him as a sculptor journeyman in 1687 and then went on a study trip to Styria in the 1690s . At the end of the 17th century he was once again proven to be a journeyman in his father's workshop. When he died in 1707, David became a master and obtained citizenship in Olomouc in 1708. He was married to Paulina Rosalia Polexina and had sons Michael Josef, born 1709, Johann Engelbert, born 1714, Cyrill Method, born 1717, and Ignaz Alois, born 1718. In 1716, Zürn was a city councilor in Olomouc. He died after 1724.
