Dawn Records (American music label)

Dawn Records was an American record label that existed in the 1950s.

The record label Dawn was founded in 1954 as a sub-label of Seeco Records and belonged to Sidney Siegel. On Dawn mostly appeared jazz recordings, as well as popular music , rock 'n' roll , rhythm and blues and folk . A&R of the label were Chuck Darwin, Paul Livert and Lee Magid.

Recordings by jazz musicians such as Gene Quill , Charlie Rouse / Julius Watkins ( Les Modes ), Zoot Sims / Bob Brookmeyer ( Zoot Sims Goes to Jazzville ), Mat Mathews / Oscar Pettiford , Dick Garcia , Frank Rehak , Paul Quinichette , Al Cohn , Lucky Thompson / Gérard Pochonet , Randy Weston ( The Modern Art of Jazz ), Joe Puma , Jimmy Raney and Rita Reys . His pieces, as well as recordings by other artists such as Aaron Sachs , Alex Smith, Charlie Smith, Peggy and Hal Serra , which originally appeared on singles, have also been edited for compilations such as Jazzville, Vol. 1-4 or Jazz for Hi-Fi Lovers . The re-releases of the recordings were made by the reissue label Blue Moon Records .

The label's rock and roll releases have included recordings by the Royal Jokers ( "Someday We'll Meet Again" ), The Sophomores , The Treniers , Carolyn Hayes, Tiny Webb and Lincoln Chase.

In addition to the US label, there was also a British label of the same name between 1970 and 1975, where music etc. a. published by Donovan and John Kongos .
