Dick Garcia

Dick Garcia (* as Richard Joseph Garcia on 11. May 1931 in New York ) is an American jazz guitarist of modern jazz . He played with Charlie Parker and Bill Evans .

Live and act

Garcia started playing guitar at the age of nine and took lessons in 1944/45. In 1950 he played with Tony Scott and in 1952 with George Shearing . During this time he also participated in two Charlie Parker titles - Don't Blame Me and Ornithology . In 1955 Garcia worked for Joe Roland , in 1956 for Aaron Sachs and again for Tony Scott in 1955/56. With his participation, he created his own album A Message From Garcia , on which Bill Evans also played. Garcia then worked as a freelance musician, but returned to George Shearing in 1959. He was also involved in recordings with Milt Buckner , Joe Puma and Lennie Hambro .
