Frank Isola
Frank Isola (* 20th February 1925 in Detroit ; † 12. December 2004 ) was an American jazz - drummer .
Life
Frank Isola played drums from 1936 after listening to Gene Krupa , worked in California with Bobby Sherwood and Earle Spencer in 1946, then in New York with Johnny Bothwell and Elliot Lawrence from 1947, with Stan Getz from 1951 to 1953 and in Gerry Mulligan 's piano-less quartet 1953/1954. With this formation he performed several times in Paris in June 1954 , to be heard on the Vogue album Pleyel Concert .
After working as a freelancer in New York, he went to Detroit in 1957 . He has also made records with Mose Allison , Eddie Bert , Bob Brookmeyer , Jimmy Raney , Johnny Williams and Tony Fruscella .
