Dead or Bullet (full title Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet ) is an anime movie from the Japanese studio Geek Toys . The theatrical release planned in Japan is August 14, 2020. A second movie that continues the story is called Nightmare or Queen and will be released in the same year.

The film is based on the Date A Live offshoot Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet by the author Yuichirō Higashide in which Kurumi Tokisaki - a nature spirit ( Japanese : 精 霊 seirei ) from the main series - is the main protagonist.

On September 17, 2019, two anime projects for Date A Live were announced. Six days later it became known that one of these projects was an implementation of the light novel offshoot Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet . At that time, however, it was not known whether the implementation would take the form of an anime television series, an original video animation or a movie.

Further details were made public in mid-March 2020. This is how the anime is created in the Geek Toys animation studio , directed by Jun Nakagawa , who already acted as director in the film for High School Fleet . Yuichirō Higashide , the author of the film, writes the script while Naoto Nakamura does the character design.

After Asami Sanada , who already spoke in the main series Kurumi Tokisaki, was announced at a very early stage as Kurumi's voice actress, further voice actors for the movie and the project name were announced in mid-May. It was only announced in mid-July 2020 that the implementation of Date A Bullet would take place in the form of two cinema films.

Go Sakabe composes the instrumental piece Infermata , which can be heard as a song in the opening credits, as well as the closing song Only wish , which is sung by Luiza. The title, which is traded as a movie, has a length of 25 minutes.

In mid-May 2020, it was announced that the anime would be broadcast in Japanese cinemas. On July 10, 2020, the cinema release was announced for August 14, 2020; the continuing movie Nightmare or Queen is scheduled to be shown in Japanese cinemas on November 13 of the same year.
