Dean Furman (born June 22, 1988 in Cape Town ) is a South African football player who has played for the English club Doncaster Rovers since 2013 .

Career

Dean Furman began his career in 2003 in the youth team at Chelsea and moved to the Glasgow Rangers youth academy in May 2006 , where he spent two more years in the youth team. In the 2008/09 season he got a professional contract and made his debut on May 10, 2008 in the game against Dundee United , when he was substituted on in the second half.

On August 27, 2008, he was loaned to Bradford City AFC , who was coached by former Rangers manager Stuart McCall , until the end of January 2009. His first appearance was in the game against Aldershot Town , in which he came onto the field towards the end of the game. After completing twelve league games, he injured his knee and had to take a break until December 16, 2008. His first game after injury was the game against Hartlepool United , where he was used as a substitute. At the end of the year his loan period was extended until the end of the season. By the end of the season, Furman played 31 league games and scored five goals.

At the end of the season he returned to the Glasgow Rangers and was signed a short time later by the English club Oldham Athletic . On June 29, 2009, he signed a three-year contract. Furman scored the Football League Goal of the Year in 2011 against Notts County . In the 2011/12 season he was team captain . In the three years he played for Oldham, he made 131 league appearances and scored eight goals.

On March 14, 2012 he was loaned by the Doncaster Rovers for the 2012/13 season and firmly committed in the following season. During his loan period, he played eight league games without scoring. Since signing, Furman has been an integral part of the first team.

National team

On August 19, 2012, he made his debut for the South African national soccer team in a friendly against Brazil (0-1). Since then, he has completed 29 full internationals and scored two goals.
