Dear Basketball is an American animated cartoon . The short film was directed by Glen Keane and based on the script by Kobe Bryant . The film is based on a letter from Bryant to The Players' Tribune on November 29, 2015, when he announced his retirement from basketball. The film premiered on April 23, 2017 at the Tribeca Film Festival .

The film won in 2018 as best animated short film the Oscar .

Shortly before the end of his basketball career, the legend of the National Basketball Association (NBA for short), Kobe Bryant, describes his love for the game of basketball. This love started when he was a little kid. In this short film, Bryant describes his career spanning around twenty years, from his childhood dreams to his famous games. He describes how he and basketball gave each other everything they had.
