Glen Keane (born April 13, 1954 in Abington , Pennsylvania , USA) is an American animator who mainly works for Walt Disney Studios .

Life

He is the son of the cartoonist Bil Keane and is considered one of the best cartoon animators in the world. His work includes characters such as Arielle , Aladdin , Tarzan , the Beast and Pocahontas . As one of the few Disney animators, Keane is mostly responsible for the character design of his characters and the storyboard of his sequences.

When the Disney studios completely stopped the production of hand-drawn cartoons in the United States in 2004, Keane began working as a director on the computer-animated fairy tale film Rapunzel . However, as it became known in October 2008, Keane had to retire from his directorial position for health and internal reasons.

On March 23, 2012, Glen Keane sent an open letter of resignation to his employees at Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios.

The animated short film Dear Basketball , directed the Director Keane and the animation was responsible, was at the Oscars 2018 in the category of animated Best Short Film Award. The film also won the Annie Award in the same category in the same year.
