Deborah Boedeker

Deborah Boedeker (born December 31, 1944 in St. Louis ) is an American classical philologist .

Life

Deborah Boedeker studied Classical Philology at Wellesley College ( Bachelor in 1966) and at St. Louis University , where she received her Masters degree in 1967 and a Ph.D. in 1973. received his doctorate . She was then a Junior Fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies and taught at Georgetown University , Brooklyn College , Wellesley College and the College of the Holy Cross . From 1992 to 2010 she was Professor of Classics at Brown University ; From 1992 to 2000 she was director of the Center for Hellenic Studies together with her husband Kurt Raaflaub .

Boedeker's main research area is Greek literature and religion. She also edited anthologies on historiography ( Herodotus ), the Trojan War , the political and cultural history of Athens and Greek poetry ( Simonides von Keos ).
