Debtocracy ( Greek Χρεοκρατία Chreokratia , literally: rule of debt ) is a Greek documentary from 2011 by Katerina Kitidi and Aris Chatzistefanou . The film deals with the causes of the sovereign debt crisis in Greece and possible solutions - not considered by the government - including the question of odious debts (despicable debts).
The title goes back to the fact that Greece is trapped in debt during the debt crisis. As a de facto government, the debt would even override constitutional principles and democracy.
The film is under the Creative Commons license . In addition to the Greek debt problem, it also deals with previous debt problems in Argentina and Ecuador.
The production of Catastroika followed the film in 2012 .
