Dee C Lee (* 6. June 1961 in Balham , London as Diane Catherine Sealey ) is a British R & B - Soul - and pop - singer . In addition to her solo activities, she sang with the groups Wham! , Slam Slam and The Style Council .

Life

Dee C Lee began her career as an accompanist . For Wham! From 1982 to 1983 she sang the background vocals on pieces such as Club Tropicana and Bad Boys . Shortly afterwards she received her first contract with CBS , in which in 1984 first singles such as Selina Wow Wow , Yippee Yi Yay! and Don't Do It Baby have been released. From May 1983 Lee also sang for the band The Style Council , including for the singles Money-Go-Round , Walls Come Tumbling Down! and Shout to the Top as well as on their albums Cafe Bleu and Our Favorite Shop .

The solo single See the Day , released in 1985, reached number 3 in the UK charts in December 1985 . The next single, Come Hell Or Waters High , a cover version of the Omaha Sheriff title of the same name , reached the UK charts at number 46. In 1986, her first solo album Shrine was released on CBS.

After that, Lee was increasingly active with The Style Council and can be heard on their albums Home and Abroad (1986), The Cost of Loving (1987) and Confessions of a Pop Group (1988) , among others . Lee was also in a relationship with Style Council frontman Paul Weller at this time and was also married from 1987.

In 1989, Lee founded the house project Slam Slam together with Blow Monkeys singer Robert Howard , which released the club hits Move (Dance All Night) , Something Ain't Right and Free Your Feelings . In 1991, Free Your Feelings, the project's only album, was released on MCA Records . 1993 followed a collaboration with the rapper Guru for his single No Time to Play . In 1994 Lee released the single New Reality Vibe on Mo 'Wax and her second solo album Things Will Be Sweeter on Cleartone Records . 1998 her third album Smiles followed . Lee has also sung for artists such as Mother Earth , Nobukazu Takemura and D'Influence .

In 2006 she made a brief appearance as a pop star in the comedy film Rabbit Fever . In 2008 she appeared in the short film The Town That Boars Me .

Lee was married to Paul Weller from 1987 until their divorce in 1998. The daughter Leah Weller, who is active as a singer and DJ, and the son Nathaniel "Natt" Weller emerged from the marriage.
