The Deer River ( deer English for stag ) is a right tributary of the Dog River in the Canadian province of Manitoba .

The Deer River arises as an outflow of the Deer Lakes 10 km east of the mouth of the Little Churchill River . The Deer River initially flows in an easterly direction. After reaching the Hudson Bay lowland , the river turns north. The railway line to Churchill runs east of the river. The M'Clintock train station is on the river. The Dog River runs west of the Deer River also in a northerly direction. The Deer River finally flows into the Dog River 40 km south of Churchill, just before it flows into the Churchill River. The Deer River has a length of about 180 km.
