Degenhard Albrecht

Degenhard Albrecht (born January 25, 1930 in Herges-Hallenberg ; † September 4, 2006 ) was a German politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1979 to 1990 he was Secretary General of the Office for External Economic Relations of the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

Life

Albrecht, the son of an employee, began an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk after high school in 1949 and joined the SED. From 1951 to 1953 he studied economics at the German Administrative Academy "Walter Ulbricht" and at the German Academy for Political Science and Law (DASR) in Potsdam-Babelsberg . In 1953 he completed his studies with a doctorate and became a research assistant at DASR. From 1954 to 1957 Albrecht was a research assistant at the University of Foreign Trade in Berlin-Staaken .

In 1957 he became the main consultant and then head of department in the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the GDR . From 1963 Albrecht was a political employee of the trade, supply and foreign trade department, in 1967 he became sector manager and in 1970 deputy head of the trade, supply and foreign trade department at the Central Committee of the SED . From 1972 to 1973 Albrecht completed a course at the party college "Karl Marx" . From 1979 to 1990 Albrecht was Secretary General of the Office for External Economic Relations of the GDR. Among other things, Albrecht was a representative of the GDR at the CSCE successor conference in Madrid .
