Deildedalen

The Deildedalen ( Norwegian for Grenztal ) is a small opening located to the north and partly stuffed with ice valley in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It lies between the Deildenapen mountain and a massif to the west of it in the eastern Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif .

The valley was discovered and mapped during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on aerial photographs and surveys as well as the naming took place during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). Naming background is a spirit from the Norwegian world of legends, which illegally changes the division of property by laying boundary stones.
