Ihr Elstern is an EP from the hip-hop project of the same name, consisting of Sookee and Kobito , which was released on September 4th, 2010.
Emergence
A few years after the release of her debut album Kopf Herz Arsch , Sookee had met the hip-hop formation Schlagzeiln , of which Kobito was a member. Already in 2009 Sookee was on the piece Therefore I say nothing more on the headline album Der Complex guest rapper, conversely Kobito was featured on her most recent album Quing , which appeared in early 2010, as a guest on the piece Release .
In the period that followed, the two artists decided to start a joint music project called your Elsters . The two commented on this on MySpace .
“Sookee and Kobito - both traveled a lot and worked a lot, became good friends and shared a local pub. Then recognized the infinity of possibilities and put their heads together, the result was the EP called "Deine Elstern".
This is to be understood as a beginning, a first sign of life from a combo that feels good and wants to continue.
Sookee and Kobito will continue to work under the name "Deine Elstern" and will hopefully produce an album soon. "
All texts for EP are from the two artists. The recordings took place in the studio of LeijiONE in July 2010. Only when the eyes were closed were some tracks recorded in the Trixx studio. In addition to LeijiOne, MisterMo, Spence, Beat 2.0 and MajusBeats were involved as producers on the album. The EP with a total of six songs was released in September 2010 via Springstoff.
Another work by Deine Elstern has not been published since then, but the two artists continue to perform together and are part of the scene collective Ticktickboom.

Music style and lyrics
Musically, it is hip-hop, strongly influenced by electronic music, with the use of spherical synthesizers . Style elements of techno and dubstep are used . In contrast to the other works of the artists, the texts of the EP deal more with personal everyday topics and have little political content.
Single release
To eyes filmed a music video that premiered at Rap.de on 20 January 2011th The song is about a night of partying and the associated symptoms of fatigue. The song attracted attention in the political hip-hop scene and was eventually released as a split maxi LP on Audiolith . On the split side is the song Through These Nights by Herrenmagazin feat. Chip shop .
layout
On the cover there are two magpies, whose eyes are directed to the right, sitting on a chain link fence. One magpie wears black and yellow plumage and stands for Kobito, the other black and violet feathers and thus represents Sookee. Sookee uses purple as the symbolic color for her music. The background is light brown and is reminiscent of a pin board or an unpainted wall. At the top is DEINE ELSTERN in black block letters , immediately below it is KOBITO & SOOKEE in slightly smaller letters
On the back of the tracklist, in front of the names of the pieces, there are times from 7:17 a.m. to 5:08 a.m.
reception
Klaus Buchholz from Thegap.at highlighted the pieces Augen zu with his thoughtful rhymes and the driving beat, as well as the two tracks Inscription and Shake Your Under_line .
"The rest is more hip-hop standard, but on a very solid textual and technical level."
The album was also discussed in the punk rock fanzine Proud to be Punk :
"All in all, they deliver a cool duo who have created a pleasantly stress-free, but in terms of the lyrics quite aesthetic soundtrack to hang out and relax."
