Delai

Delai was an Italian family of builders, bricklayers, painters and plasterers who worked mainly in Austria from the 16th to the middle of the 18th century and dominated the baroque sacred building of that time, especially in South Tyrol . They came from Scaria on Lake Como in Lombardy and were mostly based in Bolzano . Members were among others

  • Carlo Delai (verifiable until 1705), builder, master bricklayer, probably brother of Francesco Delai
  • Francesco Delai (* around 1625 in Scaria; † August 5, 1678 in Bozen), builder, probably brother of Carlo Delai
  • Giacomo Delai il Giovane (born November 1, 1630 in Scaria, † November 12, 1675 in Bozen), master builder, father of Pietro Delai and Andrea Delai
  • Giovanni Battista Delai il Giovane (* around 1650 in Scaria; † 14 August 1710 in Bozen), builder, son of Paolo Delai il Giovane
  • Giuseppe Carlo Delai (* around 1670 in Scaria; † after 1737 in Brixen?), Son of Andrea Delai, master builder and city master builder of Bozen
  • Pietro Delai (* around 1635 in Scaria; † April 16, 1695 in Bozen ), builder, son of Giacomo Delai il Giovane, brother of Andrea Delai
