Delaware State Route 42 or DE 6 for short is a 20.42 km long state route in Kent County , Delaware . It begins on Delaware State Route 6 in Blackiston and ends on Delaware State Route 9 in Leipsic . Delaware State Route 42 passes through the cities of Kenton and Cheswold .
Route description
State Route 42 heads northwest from State Route 6 on Blackiston Road to the junction with unnumbered Longridge Road. This leads to the state border with Maryland and becomes Maryland State Route 330 , which runs through Kent County Marylands and connects to US Highway 301 via Maryland State Route 313 . DE 42 itself continues to Kenton and crosses Delaware State Route 300 as Commerce Street , the local Main Street.
Leaving Kenton behind, the road leads eastward as Seven Hickories Road through a sparsely developed landscape to Seven Hickories, where it joins the Delaware State Route 15 . Both streets then have a common course up to the vicinity of Moore's Corner. From there, DE 15 heads south on Kenton Road and DE 42 continues east towards Cheswold. It crosses this city as Main Street and intersects US Highway 13 on its eastern edge.
The State Route then continues on Fast Landing Road. It crosses the Delaware State Route 1 , which is subject to a toll and has a ramp for emergency vehicles, but has no official access. It leads through agricultural area to the northeast, before making a sharp bend to the southeast and through the floodplain of the Leipsic River and reaches the city of Leipsic. There it forms Second Street, on which it runs east to the end point on Delaware State Route 9 .
