The Delaware State Route 9 ( DE 9 for short ) is a state route in the US state of Delaware that runs in a north-south direction.
The State Route begins on Delaware State Route 1 south of Dover Air Force Base and ends after 94 kilometers in Wilmington on Delaware State Route 2 .

After branching off from Delaware State Route 1, DE 9 runs north parallel to DE 1 and Delaware Bay , passing Dover Air Force Base . North of Little Creek branches off the Delaware State Route 8 from near Smyrna the State Route 6 and in Leipsic the State Route 42 . On this section you will pass the Reedy Island Range Rear Light , a historic lighthouse, before the Delaware State Route 299 branches off near Odessa . With the Reedy Point Bridge , the street crosses the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal and meets the DE 72 east of Delaware City .
The Delaware State Route 9 with New Castle reaches the metropolitan area of Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware. Delaware State Routes 141 and 273 branch off to the west of the city . To the east of Wilmington Manor, it crosses the route of Interstate 295 and US Highway 40 and shortly thereafter Interstate 495 . The connection to I-495 is the Delaware State Route 9A . In the south of Wilmington, US Highway 13 uses the route of DE 9 for about one kilometer. After crossing the Christina River , they separate again and the State Route leads west on 4th Street through the city center. On this road it meets the joint route of Interstate 95 and US Highway 202 before it ends at Delaware State Route 2.
