The Kent County is one of three counties in the US state of Delaware . The county seat is Dover .

Like all of Delaware, the county is located on the Delmarva Peninsula . In a north-south direction, the county is in the center of Delaware; in an east-west direction it extends from the center of the Delmarva Peninsula to Delaware Bay , the confluence of the Delaware River into the Atlantic Ocean . Kent County covers an area of 2,072 square kilometers; 545 square kilometers of this is water. It borders on the following counties:

Kent County was formed in 1683 from parts of New Castle County. It was named after the English county of Kent .

According to the 2000 census , Kent County's population was 126,697 people in 47,224 households and 33,623 families. The population density was 33 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 73.5 percent white, 20.7 percent African American, 0.6 percent Native American, 1.7 percent Asian and 1.3 percent from other ethnic groups; 2.2 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.2 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups.
Of the 47,224 households, 35.5 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 52.9 percent were married couples living together, 13.8 percent were single mothers, and 28.8 percent were non-families. 23.0 percent of all households were single households and 8.4 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.06.
27.3 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 10.1 percent between 18 and 24, 29.8 percent between 25 and 44, 21.2 percent between 45 and 64 years old, and 11.7 percent were 65 years or older . The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 93.1 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 89.6 males.
The average income of a household amounted to 40,950 USD , for a family is 46,504 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,660 versus $ 24,706 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,662. About 8.1 percent of families and 10.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line .
