The county is located in the northwest of the Delmarva Peninsula on the east bank of Chesapeake Bay and borders Delaware to the east . It has an area of ​​1,073 square kilometers; of which 349 square kilometers (32.55 percent) are water surfaces. The following counties border Kent County:

history

The county was formed in 1642 from former Indian land and named after the county of Kent in England .

Two sites have National Historic Landmark status due to their historical significance , the Chestertown Historic District and the Nellie Crockett ship . 40 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of November 14, 2017).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , Kent County's population was 20,197 in 8,071 households. The population density was 27.9 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 80.1 percent white, 15.1 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.8 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.5 percent of the population.
